My Bio
I am currently pursuing a Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Sculpture and Gender Studies. The sculpture medium provides a perfect environment for me with the use of different materials and three-dimensional space. The possibilities of performance, installation, video, and three-dimensional objects attract me to this discipline. Most of my artwork deals with feminism or womanhood, and Gender Studies is a field that I feel as a necessity for my work. I find inspiration during my Gender Studies classes in discussions where I can learn about how I and others react to certain topics. Although I like working in various sculptural methods, molds are fundamental to the majority of my work. I am part owner of a costuming business where we make and use molds continuously; therefore, the process of using molds to achieve a finished product is a strength and enjoyment of mine. In my recent works, I have been using fabrics and domestic materials combined with traditional sculpture mediums to convey ideas within my interests in feminist topics. The artists who have inspired my work in materials and/or theme are Janine Antoni, Judy Chicago, Lee Bontecou, and Eva Hesse. I plan to continue making work about feminism and femininity because of my strong personal and artistic interest in the subject. Eventually, I intend to explore masculinity and gender as a whole. At this moment, I am creating plant art that is more installation and time-based.

My plans for the first sculpture this semester is a portable edible garden.  It will have grow lights and wheels, and hopefully by the end of the semester, I will have some vegetables of fruits. It will also fit under my desk and I will be able to move it out to the hallway.  Maybe even to other buildings.  I think I will invite people to come help water it or eat off of it.  We'll see how this goes...

I'm honored. I don't know how many pieces I've found in books and on etsy that are in my sketchbooks as reference!
well we all are inspired somewhere. What i'm really enjoying is how your work has "zippers" and "buttons" :D
